Howto check to see if your digital camera can use an infra-red (IR) filter

Some digital cameras use infra-red or IR for range finding so their lenses block IR. These cameras will not be able to take IR photography.

Before you buy an IR camera filter, test you cameras ability

  • Aim a remote control with the button pressed directly at your camera, and take a picture. If you can see a light from the remote your camera will with IR photography.
